Our Evolution

In 2001, our founders were busy preparing to bring our first product to market — a backup solution for Microsoft's email service, Exchange. Shortly after, their focus quickly turned to providing a backup solution for a new Microsoft product that offered site-based collaboration: SharePoint 2001.

Upon founding AvePoint, Kai Gong and Dr. Tianyi Jiang (TJ) built the company’s first product, a backup solution for Microsoft Exchange.

At Microsoft TechEd 2003, AvePoint announced its newest product to support customers migrating from SharePoint 2001 to SharePoint 2003.

The rapid popularity of SharePoint led to the creation of DocAve, our platform for SharePoint migration, management, and data protection.

AvePoint received its first investment from Summit Partners and maintained its commitment to strategic growth.

check 2008 to 2012

AvePoint started working with major partners like IBM and NetApp and grew its customer base rapidly, earning accolades like the Inc. 500 List of Fastest Growing American Companies and the Deloitte 2010 Technology Fast 500 list. During these years we expanded internationally, with offices in Japan, Washington, D.C., Singapore, Germany, and China.

Adding to our portfolio of products, AvePoint introduced an early version of our governance solution, DocAve automating policies for customers. For our work with the U.S. Army, AvePoint received a Certificate of Networthiness, which cleared our products for deployment throughout the U.S. Army's IT infrastructure.

Given the rise in cloud computing, AvePoint transforms to offer a subscription model to support self-hosted, hybrid, and SaaS deployments. We introduced AvePoint Cloud Backup, our award-winning backup-as-a-service product, and garnered our first global Microsoft Partner of the Year Award for Public Safety & National Security.

check 2016 to 2021

AvePoint launched its machine-learning enabled virtual assistant, AVA, and expanded its support of the digital workplace with products for Google and Salesforce. As cloud adoption accelerated, AvePoint introduced new products for information management and SaaS management.

AvePoint lists on Nasdaq as AVPT and celebrates this milestone in Times Square, New York. We expanded into industry solutions with AvePoint Edutech, our SaaS modern learning product line. We also debuted the AvePoint Partner Program to expand our channel presence, and earned the highest possible ranking in the Forrester New Wave: SaaS Application Data Protection.

AvePoint invests $100 million SGD in its new International R&D Hub in Singapore and established a growing R&D presence in Vietnam. We also completed four strategic acquisitions – tyGraph, Essential Co., Combined Knowledge, and i-Access Solutions – to expand offerings for customers and grow our global footprint.

We expanded the Confidence Platform with our support for Power Platform data protection, migration, and management. We also introduced new products for AI-powered information lifecycle management and announced our exclusive Microsoft Content AI partnership. AvePoint received an anchor investment from 65 Equity Partners which reflects their confidence in our vision to advance the digital workplace, capture growing markets, and prioritize profitable growth.
